How to Help a Friend or Relative Through a Lay Off

July 28th, 2009  |  Published in Recession

Layoffs are happening all across the country and they continue to increase. If you weren’t laid off yourself, you likely know someone who was. In fact, that person may be a close friend or relative. How can you help them through this troubling time?

Be available to listen. As a close friend or relative, you should be that shoulder to cry on or that listening ear. Most of their talk will start out as rants. This is okay. Your first thought may be to say “get over it and find a new job.” As much as you have the urge, suppress it. After a life-changing event, like a job layoff, we all need to rant, vent, and whine. Let them. This stage will pass. In no time at all, you will be listening to them talk about their job interviews or new coworkers.

Carefully provide advice. Once the shock wears offer, advice from others is regularly sought. Your friend or relative may ask for advice on finding a new job, how to save money, and so forth. When that point comes, proceed with caution. The wrong tone can cause a serious strain on your relationship. It is best to avoid unsolicited advice, especially at first. Wait until you are asked or approach the subject carefully. Never talk down to them.

Comparison between the play station portable and the iPod video

July 24th, 2009  |  Published in iPod

The new iPod video was one of the most surprising products of 2006, due to the fact that iPods didn’t include the video feature, since the launching of the 5th generation of iPods in 2005.

Still, the natural comparison the customers (and not only) made was the one between the play station portable, also known as the PSP and the new model of the iPod series. PSP is basically a handheld game console which was produced by the company Sony Computer Entertainment, back in 2004. The public’s reactions to this new device which was rather different than almost everything on the market was very good, due to the fact that the small device allowed customers to play famous games, and, at the same time, watch clips.

Comparing the batteries of these 2 devices or, better said, the life of the batteries, it is a fact that the PSP device lasted much longer than the iPod. While playing a movie, the battery of the iPod dies after almost 2 hours and a half, while the PSP battery lasts up to more than 7 hours, which is a big plus.

Comparing the audio quality, it must be said the fact that both the devices provide a good audio quality; still, the iPod video turned out to provide a slightly clearer sound than the play station portable. This is due to the act that the audio in the iPod video file is encoded into AAC audio. On the other hand, the PSP seemed to have more bass in some cases, but overall, the difference was not that relevant and significant.

Time Management Plan

July 20th, 2009  |  Published in Time Management

Do you do internet marketing? Whether it is your job to market websites, services, and products for others or if you are marketing your own personal projects, time management is key. In fact, your ability to work and manage your time is directly related to your income earnings. The more links you distribute and the more interest you generate, the more money you should make.

Since time management is an important component of becoming a successful and profitable internet marketer, you may wish to revamp the daily managing of your time. If so, continue reading on for 6 easy steps to get started.

1 – Brainstorm

Do not make the mistake of jumping right into work. Instead, take the time to brainstorm and develop a list of internet marketing tasks. Decide what you want to do for the day. How do you want to market and advertise today? Do you want to update your website or blog? Do you want to submit to article directories? Do you want to buy advertisements on similar websites? If so, list these items on a scrap sheet of paper.

2 – Prioritize

You might assume that you are done after brainstorming your daily tasks, but you are not. Next, you want to create a to-do list or a detailed schedule. To get started, prioritize. If working for yourself, as opposed to a client, you have more freedom.

How to Influence Behavior in School

July 16th, 2009  |  Published in School

In school, it is inevitable that there is sometimes conflict between the teacher and the student or among the students. Instead of sitting idly by and doing nothing, the teacher must learn how to influence this type of rude behavior because it is something that must never be tolerated in the classroom.

If the student is failing in one subject and the students are making fun of this person, the best way to make an influence on the student is to spend more time with that student. This is known as hurdle helping where additional hours of work are done after school and this can be done with the teacher or with a fellow student.

The teacher is not the only one responsible for the child’s performance in school. Parents have a share in the load too so everyone has to agree on what should be done to improve the situation. This technique is known as a contract where all parties will sign an agreement stating that they will do their best to improve.

Included in the agreement is the student’s expected behavior in school and at home. So that the teacher and the parents know how things are progressing, a time line is set to see if such goals are achieved.
